Ulong channel is located 24 kilometers west  of Koror ( main state of Palau ). With approximately 30-40 minutes travel time by a speedboat. Visibility is best during an incoming tide. And level of diving experience needed is advance for current can be strong and unpredictable. Its one of those places where the direction of the current change abruptly halfway through the dive.

Corals here are so healthy and abundant. Drawing lots of marine species. Sting rays, gray reef sharks, jacks, snappers, barracuda are frequently seen. And titan tigerfish are also known to nest in this area.

New drop off is the site where very large sea fans jut out from the sheer reef walls. The fans make excellent background for spectacular photographs. Thick and healthy soft corals with colors ranging from deep violet to hot pink are seen everywhere. Plenty of marine species can be seen here such as gray Reef Sharks , Pyramid Butterflyfish, Square Anthias, Moorish Idols, Sargent Major's and Yellowtail Fusiliers. Blue Face, Regal, and Emperor Angelfish are also easily spotted. The plateau and the upper wall host large schools of Barracudas and Snappers. Spotted Eagle Rays and Napoleon Wrasse are seen here too.

Jellyfish lake

Jellyfish lake is one of the most famous snorkeling site here in Palau. It became famous due to its harmless golden jellyfish inhabitants.Travel time takes 30-40 minutes by a speedboat. Well there's not much to see but swimming with thousands of golden jellyfish is worth the travel.

German channel is one of the known dive spots here in Palau where you can encounter large Manta Rays.  Getting there takes 40 to 50 minutes by a speedboat. And level of diving experience is from novice to advance.

Though the last we were there, where not as lucky as we expected. We just encounter some three Manta for the entire dive. But still the experience was awesome. Just being there with a huge Manta passing by two feet above your head is so surreal.

And with almost every form of marine life can be seen here. Lots of jacks will school here along with barracudas, trevaly ,snappers and other  species. The sandy bottom is home to garden eels, blind Gobies and Mantis shrimps . Sighting a cuttlefish is another reward for our dive .

Palau is an island nation in the Pacific. Located east of Philippines and south of Japan.

Palau has a tropical climate all year round with an annual mean temperature of 82 °F (28 °C).  The average humidity over the course of the year is 82%, and although rain falls more frequently between July and October, there is still much sunshine. Typhoons are rare, as Palau is outside the main typhoon zone. Making diving possible all year round.

Palau islands are well preserved thus giving you some of the natural wonders of the world if we consider the beauty of their marine life. Plenty of tourists love to visit Palau for scuba diving as they certainly feel like they are in paradise when they swim around all those extraordinary marine life .If you truly love diving you should definitely consider visiting Palau. There is no doubt that if you plan the trip in time you will enjoy a unique and fascinating experience.

One of the most popular spot here is the renowned jellyfish lake. Where you can swim alongside those harmless jellyfish.
